Zen Technologies Limited has secured a significant contract worth ₹289 crores from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) for the upgrade of its Anti-Drone Systems (ADS). Announced on November 2, 2025, this deal marks a decisive step towards reinforcing India’s defense capabilities against evolving drone threats. The upgrades are expected to be completed within a year and reflect a broader strategy to prioritize indigenously designed, developed, and manufactured (IDDM) defense solutions over foreign imports. This move is crucial, as it aims to enhance operational readiness in response to challenges identified during recent military missions, including Operation Sindoor.

The decision to pursue IDDM solutions is underscored by the urgent need for rapid adaptability in defense systems. Zen Technologies’ ADS, which is entirely developed in-house, allows for immediate validation and enhancements without the delays commonly associated with foreign-sourced products. The contract addresses critical operational feedback related to drone threats, emphasizing the importance of maintaining control over both hardware and software components to counteract vulnerabilities highlighted by global incidents like the Stuxnet malware attack.
