Sarveshwar Foods Limited (BSE: 543688) announced a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on November 10, 2025, aimed at enhancing the procurement and distribution of Mushkbudji rice, a premium aromatic variety from Jammu and Kashmir. This tri-party agreement involves Sarveshwar Foods, the Sagam Mushkbudji Farmer Producer Company (FPC), and the Indian Rice Exporters Federation (IREF). The initiative was unveiled during the BIRC 2025 event, highlighting a collaborative effort to promote this unique agricultural product while supporting local farmers.
The MoU outlines plans to procure an indicative quantity of 500 Metric Tons (MT) of Mushkbudji rice, valued at approximately ₹7.5 Crores, for distribution across India. Key objectives include establishing a framework for cooperation, setting product quality expectations, and strengthening the supply chain for the benefit of local farmers. Mr. Rohit Gupta, Chairman of Sarveshwar Foods, emphasized the company's commitment to promoting the agricultural wealth of Jammu and Kashmir, suggesting that this agreement will expand the reach of Mushkbudji rice to consumers nationwide.
The collaboration is expected to provide substantial benefits to farmers involved in the cultivation of Mushkbudji rice. Mr. Shabir Ahmad Baba, the Authorized Signatory for Sagam Mushkbudji, welcomed the initiative, stating it offers stability and assurance that their unique produce will find the market it deserves. Dr. Prem Garg, IREF’s National President, remarked on the importance of connecting premium niche agricultural products to established markets, which will enhance India's specialty rice exports. This partnership marks a pivotal step in promoting the region's agricultural products while ensuring fair value for local producers.
