Chief Justice of India B R Gavai emphasized the importance of cultural connection during his address at the annual function of Maheshwari Prasad Inter College in Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh. Speaking to students, he asserted, "One should not break the connection with one's soil," highlighting that regardless of personal achievements, one must remain rooted in their culture. Gavai, who has served as a judge, expressed that the opportunity to provide socio-economic justice was far more rewarding than any financial gain. He underscored the significance of being connected to one’s origins, especially for the younger generation who will shape the future of the country.
During his speech, Gavai reflected on his relationship with Justice Vikram Nath, the college's founder’s son, and shared his long-standing desire to visit the institution. He noted that he was present not just as the Chief Justice but as "an elder brother" to Vikram Nath, emphasizing personal bonds amid professional duties. The event also featured a heartfelt moment when a student from an economically disadvantaged background presented a hand-drawn portrait of the CJI, which delighted Gavai. In a display of support, the school management committee announced a financial assistance of ₹11,000 for the student, showcasing the college's commitment to uplifting those in need.
The significance of education as a transformative tool was echoed by Allahabad High Court Chief Justice Arun Bhansali, who attended the program as a special guest. He described the college as a "bridge" for rural talent to enter the mainstream and stressed that education should enable students to discern right from wrong. Bhansali encouraged teachers to foster an environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, reinforcing the notion that education extends beyond mere job preparation. Together, both justices called on students to draw inspiration from the rich cultural heritage they are part of, urging them to take on the mantle of responsibility for the future of India.
