Ester Industries Limited has secured a multi-year agreement with Nike, establishing itself as a key supplier of sustainable materials through its joint venture with Loop Industries. Under this agreement, Nike will be the anchor customer for the Infinite Loop™ India manufacturing facility, where Loop will provide its proprietary Twist™ polyester resin, crafted exclusively from textile waste. This initiative underscores both companies' commitment to sustainable innovation, with the Twist™ resin aimed at significantly reducing the reliance on virgin and recycled polyester across Nike's extensive product range.
The Infinite Loop™ India facility is set to achieve remarkable environmental savings, projecting an 81% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and an annual savings of approximately 418,600 tonnes of CO₂. This reduction is equivalent to eliminating over one billion miles driven by an average gasoline-powered vehicle each year. The facility will enhance traceability of the Twist™ resin through Loop's unique chemical tracer technology, ensuring that Nike can verify the textile-to-textile recycled content used in its products. This partnership is a pivotal step in Nike's strategy to enhance sustainability within its supply chain, as highlighted by Sitora Muzafarova, VP of Materials Supply Chain at Nike.
Arvind Singhania, Chairman of Ester Industries, expressed pride in partnering with Nike to advance global sustainability goals. He noted that this collaboration is a testament to the trust and confidence multinational brands have in Ester's ability to deliver high-performance, verifiable recycled materials at scale. This agreement not only positions Ester Industries as a leader in sustainable manufacturing but also reinforces Loop Industries' mission to promote a circular economy through innovative solutions in the textile industry. Overall, this partnership marks a significant milestone in the drive towards sustainability in fashion and manufacturing.
